Bentley commissioned six British artists to create unique, contemporary pieces of art inspired by the Continental GTC. Each has its own story to tell, yet all share the same common themes: grace, beauty, power, luxury, speed…Bentley.

“The distinctive contemporary styling immediately conjured up a brisk abstract image. While the bold British block colours echo the sculpted and dynamic design, flashing, fast moving repetitious shapes and angles express speed and performance.”
Distinctive by Paul Wearing
Using graphic digital media.

“I was inspired by the untapped potential of the GTC, and wanted to portray it in a dynamic, contemporary way thats full of fun and energy. The variety of media creates a striking and powerful mix of fast brush strokes and sharp clean detail.”

“The tactile quality of the cabin the smooth lines and union of leather, metal and polished wood. Its all about touch. I wanted to capture the beauty of these textures and surfaces. Hands naturally take centre stage in such a sensuous space”
Sensuous by Darren Hopes/Spiral Studios
Using digitally manipulated photography.

“The English hart is a timeless symbol of British pace and beauty, while the soft carpet of flowers, ferns and feathers denote the exquisite comfort of the new GTC. An oversized butterfly settles on the back of the creature, depicting the sheer bliss of the cars interior.”

Using a classic watercolour technique.

“Outdoor elements capture the exhilarating open-top Bentley driving experience. Wind and air flow through, becoming sea and water, combining images that demonstrate this dynamic. The composition is deliberately jewel like; an explosion of movement and action.”
Exhilarating by Tim Marrs
Using an eclectic collage of mixed media.

“The challenge was to produce an image that encapsulates both the inspirational Bentley design and the emotional impact of the open-top driving experience. So I juggled with reality to create a floating, other-worldly touch of ethereal magic.”

Power on Ice 2012 was held in Kuusamo, Finland throughout the month of February to allow Bentley owners and enthusiasts to drive the Continental GT and the Continental Supersports Coupe in some of the harshest winter conditions on the map. The event was held to not only show off the duality of the vehicles but to also permit the experience to those who wouldn’t normally get to utilize the car at its full potential.
“It’s about getting people to understand how the drive train works to deliver power to the ground appropriately. We want to show all of the capabilities of the cars…” says James Barclay, Head of Marketing for the Americas at Bentley, “…buying a Bentley is also about buying into a lifestyle and for our customers it’s about creating real experiences in our own way.”

Guests stayed at the five-star Ruka Ski Resort which is nestled in the heart of the Scandinavian country. The frozen lake and snow-laden forest provided a challenging course for even the most experienced of drivers so Bentley provided a highly skilled instructor to accompany each participant as they tore through the icy terrain. It’s not just a Supersports, it’s a black Supersports with fireglow (red) interior (a color combo unique to the model). This car needs no explanation; it’s quite obviously one of the fastest and most exquisitely built vehicles in its class. Click here for additional photos and information!

Even the brake calipers are red!
